This fully funded PhD studentship will develop an evidence-based approach to citizen science as part of a wider project across the Staffordshire Moorlands. Working alongside community groups, partner organisations and researchers at Keele University, you will use multiple methods to assess the suitability of habitat restoration to positively benefit climate mitigation and/or biodiversity. A mix of fieldwork, laboratory analysis, community engagement and consultation methods will be included.

Thanks to National Lottery players, Nature in your Neighbourhood, led by Staffordshire Wildlife Trust has received £752,415 over five years from the National Lottery Community Fund, the largest community funder in the UK.

Applications are welcome from graduates with at least a 2:1 honours degree (or equivalent) in geography, environmental science, biology, ecology or a related discipline, or an applicant with a relevant Masters’ degree (or close to submitting their Masters’ thesis), or relevant experience in the field.
