The Biodiversity Information Service (BIS) is the
independent Local Environmental Records Centre (LERC) which acts as the focus for the
collation, management and use of information on the wildlife and biodiversity of Powys and the
Bannau Brycheiniog National Park.

We are looking for a suitable candidate for the permanent, full-time post of Local
Environmental Records Centre Manager
at BIS. The role will be based at our Brecon
office within the beautiful Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. This is an opportunity to work in
a well-established and forward-thinking LERC as part of the strong network of four LERCs in
Wales. The successful candidate will continue to develop and manage BIS services to provide
efficient access to biodiversity information locally and across Wales.

The ideal candidate will have already managed an equivalent organisation, project or team. You
will have financial and human resources skills and some experience in working with biological
databases and understanding of the recording community. You should be able to demonstrate a
personal commitment to biodiversity conservation, be highly motivated and have the capacity to
thrive on the challenges offered through leading and developing a small organisation. For
further details on what we do and the services we provide please visit the BIS website.

We are a small, friendly and hard-working team dedicated to providing robust evidence to inform
conservation action and decision-making throughout mid-Wales.

We are at the heart of the recording community in Powys and the Bannau Brycheiniog National
Park. We work closely with volunteers, species experts, conservation NGOs, Local Authorities,
utility companies, researchers, ecological consultants and the other Welsh LERCs.

We support hybrid working; this role has an expectation of working 50% of the time each week
from our Brecon office.
