Division Summary

The Global Health Division (GHD) implements broad-based programs in health systems strengthening, infectious diseases, neglected tropical diseases, and non-communicable diseases. We address a range of public health problems to reduce disparities, lower disease burdens, and build locally owned, sustainable health programs in lower- and middle-income countries. GHD has a staff of over 400 and works in over 25 countries.

Project Summary

USAID/Guinea has recently awarded RTI a $73 million USD, five-year Cooperative Agreement to strengthen local health systems in targeted geographic areas so that Guineas can access a higher quality of health care in their communities and local public health facilities. The project will contribute to sustainable improvements in the health status of target populations in 3 regions of Guinea, along with 5 Conakry communes.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Improve the quality of disease prevention and care and treatment at the level of health and community facilities (training, supervision, compliance with guides and algorithms, routine activities, etc.)
  • Support the training of Health Agents, Community Health Workers and Community Relays
  • Support post-training follow-up and formative supervisions.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to health providers on site.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the integrated package of services at the level of health structures and at the community level.
  • Participate in the health facilities staff meetings during supervision visits.
  • Reinforce the availability of drugs and health commodities essential for the care and treatment of the diseases of the integrated packages.
  • Provide leadership in creating demand for care services.
  • Support the health facilities, with a specific focus on hospitals, CMCs and CSAs, in the timeliness, completeness, review, analysis and use of data to improve decision-making and implementation of activities.
  • Participate in supervisions supported by the project in collaboration with the district management teams and the regional project team.
  • Support the Regional Coordinator in the development, implementation and monitoring of the regional integrated PAO of the project to achieve the expected results.
  • Support the Regional Coordinator in the development of project documents (presentation, quarterly report, specific activity report, etc.)
  • Perform other project duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Medical degree of general practitioner, pediatrician, infectiologist or equivalent diploma, midwife ,a specialist diploma will be an asset.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in clinical medical practice and 2 years of experience in the implementation of malaria control programs and SRMNIA
  • Good knowledge of Guinea’s health system
  • Experience in capacity building at individual and organizational levels
  • Skills in at least two of the following technical areas: strengthening service delivery programs, training, performance and quality improvement.
  • Proven experience in supporting districts and regions in the field of diseases control.
  • In-depth knowledge of common office software
  • Excellent writing, oral communication and negotiation skills in French. Knowledge of English desired
  • Experience in USAID-funded health projects desired
