Vaccine Protocol

Position Summary/Purpose of Position:Assistance is needed for a variety of healthcare-related tasks on an as-needed basis. The UMD Health Center is looking for students who can provide exceptional support in the day-to-day operations by performing a wide range of tasks to ensure students, faculty/staff, prospective students, and community members receive their healthcare needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for visits by taking vitals, directing patients to examining rooms, and providing gowns or drapes. Keep inventory of exam room supplies, and stock supplies as needed. Collect lab specimens, perform basic lab tests and dispose of contaminated supplies. (60%)
  • Greet patients in person and answer phone calls. Ensure related administrative tasks are completed with accuracy and promptness. Administrative tasks include but are not limited to filing, scanning, faxing, and copying health records. (10%)
  • Maintain a safe, private, and secure work environment by following UMD Health Center Standard Operating Procedures. Assist with department-specific duties as instructed, and other duties as assigned. (10%)
  • Adhere to all guidelines and protocols of the University Health Center and all standard protocols for healthcare workers including following all health and safety requirements. Demonstrate respect for patient privacy and dignity, show a non-judgmental attitude, and maintain confidentiality in all interactions and regarding patient records. Adhering to HIPAA guidelines. (10%)
  • Comply with standard work requirements such as punctuality, attendance, and fitness for duty. Serve as a representative of the University Health Center, the Division of Student Affairs, and the University of Maryland. (10%)

Minimum Qualifications:Education:

  • Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student at UMD.
  • Current certification in EMT, certified medical assistant, certified clinical medical assistant, certified nursing assistant, or any other medical certification.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Adept in Microsoft Office and Google Calendar.

Preferences:Preferences:

  • Previous experience with an EMR.
  • Experience as an EMT, medical assistant, pharmacy technician, lab technician, or any other medical position.
  • Additional Certifications:Certified in CPR/AED, BLS, ACLS, first aid, or any other medical certification preferred.

Additional Information:$15-$20 per hour.
