Minimum Requirements:

Two years of college and two years of healthcare experience in either a clinical or administrative capacity with at least six months of provider scheduling experience. Education may be offset on a one-to-one basis with additional related work experience. Must have medical coding certification (AAOMS Coding Certificate Program, AAPC CPC, or an equivalent coding certification), obtain certification within 12 months of hire, or have three years of coding experience. Grade 3 (Hourly)

Position Description:

The University of Louisville is seeking a Surgery Scheduler for the Faculty Private Practice Oral Surgery Department. This position is responsible for patient coordination for medical and dental procedures across multiple treatment locations including the management of hospital patients for surgery coordination and scheduling. Position directly supports Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery physicians with coordination of their professional time management between academic teaching, multi-office, multi-hospital, and on-call scheduling. Supports/assists front office and back clinical duties, as needed. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates internal/external appointments, medical procedures/tests, surgery clearances and surgery scheduling.
  • Verifies medical/dental insurance coverage, obtains all required prior authorizations, treatment planning/estimates, collects patient payments and provides financial guidance. 
  • Submits charges and chart audits for billing, assists with accounts receivable and medical claims filing; assists with procedure/diagnosis coding.
  • Validate/triage/coordinate internal and external referral sources by phone, fax, email, and mail. 
  • Significant amounts of oral/written communication between all parties to exchange accurate and constantly changing information regarding the progression and quality of a patient’s coordination of care.
  • Supports/assists front office and back clinical duties, as needed.

Target Compensation Maximum:

$27.85

Target Compensation Minimum:

$18.56

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
