Providence Public Schools District (PPSD) seeks an exceptional HIGH SCHOOL High School CTE BUSINESS ENTREPRENEURSHIP TEACHER who is highly qualified and skillful to join our community of teachers, students and stakeholders. We serve approximately 22,000 students at 37 elementary, middle, and high schools. Approximately 55% of students come from homes where English is not the primary language spoken. Combined, our students and families speak 55 different languages and hail from 91 countries of origin. EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of education from an accredited college or university required; Master’s degree is preferred.

RIDE Certification Requirements:

  • CTE – Office Occupations
  • OR
  • Secondary Grades Business Education Teacher, Grades 7-12

ESL Certification preferred

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES

  1. Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active and engaging learning. 
  2. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment, using relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction. 
  3. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities and provide appropriate feedback on assignments. 
  4. Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing a warm, welcoming, and culturally relevant environment.
  5. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and regularly use data to observe and evaluate student performance and development to adjust teaching strategies. 
  6. Maintain and update accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development. 
  7. Communicate information regularly to students, colleagues, and families regarding student progress and student needs. 
  8. Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities to support all students.
  9. Actively participate in and contribute to department, school, district and parent meetings and professional development.
  10. Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests, and assignments according to state standards.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Financial Literacy

  1. Teach the foundational elements of financial literacy, in areas such as personal budgeting, debt management, education and retirement saving, investing, and tax planning.
  2. Instruct students on various financial instruments such as stocks, bonds, and mutual funds.
  3. Plan and facilitate learning experiences involving key components of financial literacy, including earning, spending, saving, investing, borrowing, and protecting.
