We welcome applications from candidates with any specialization in English studies and especially welcome applicants with specializations in Rhetoric and Composition/Writing Studies.

Located in Waco, Texas, Baylor University is the oldest college in Texas. With a population of 21,000 diverse students, Baylor is one of the top universities in the nation, having been named an R1 institution by the Carnegie Classification in January 2022. Baylor is also on the honor roll of the “Great Colleges to Work For” from The Chronicle of Higher Education; Baylor offers competitive salaries and benefits while allowing faculty and staff to live in one of the fastest-growing parts of the state. Our strategic plan, Illuminate, guides the University as we continue to live up to Baylor’s mission of educating men and women for worldwide leadership and service by integrating academic excellence and Christian commitment within a caring community.

Qualifications

Experience teaching first-year writing, advanced rhetoric and writing courses, or technical writing is desired. Candidates should be able to demonstrate teaching excellence and a dedication to undergraduate teaching. The successful applicant must hold an advanced degree, preferably the Ph.D., in Rhetoric and Composition/Writing Studies or English by the start date of the appointment. Because Baylor is a Christian university, candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to Baylor University’s Christian mission. Some candidates may be required to attend an interview with Baylor University administration depending on course workload. Employment will be contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.

Application Instructions

A complete application consists of (1) current curriculum vitae, (2) an official transcript of the highest degree completed (if a Ph.D. or other advanced degree is in progress, a transcript showing hours completed toward the Ph.D. is also required), (3) a cover/application letter, and (4) a self-disclosed Faculty Mission Review Form. Applications will be submitted through Interfolio. All applicants must complete the self-disclosed Part-time Mission Review Form in Interfolio.
