Salary Grade10Wages Begin At16.20FLSANon-ExemptHrs/Week40Pre-Employment ScreeningRequires successful completion of a background check.Position FunctionA crucial role in the operation of teacher preparation, the student teaching coordinator will work closely with the Associate Director of Student Teaching and Placements to promote and secure all student teaching placements Ball State University. This position administers correspondence with school districts, school personnel and students, placement of students, ongoing monitoring student teaching placements, and coordination with assigned faculty.
Minimum EducationAssociate’s degree or an additional two years of related experience will be accepted in lieu of an associate’s degree.
Minimum ExperienceAt least one year of office support or related experience.

Duties & Responsibilities
Ranking1Job DutyProcess on-line student teaching applications, digital contracts, placement requests and transcripts for each student teacher; and send to school corporations accepting the placement of student teachers.
Ranking2Job DutyProcess confirmed placements of student teachers by updating the current Learning Management System (2024-25, Tk-20 and Excel); send written notification to all student teachers and classroom mentor teachers.
Ranking3Job DutyProcess student teaching placement requests denied by school corporations by sending all paperwork to the next appropriately identified school corporation; update database to reflect this change.
Ranking4Job DutyProcess assignment changes requested by student teacher and/or university supervisors and approved by the OTES-CP leadership includes send written notification of change to classroom mentor teachers, principals, superintendents, and student teachers
Ranking5Job DutyCommunicate and advise student teachers, principals, superintendents, classroom mentor teachers, and university supervisors regarding all student teaching placement inquiries, details, and follow-up.
Ranking6Job DutyBuild and maintain collaborative relationships with district and school office staff.
Ranking7Job DutyPromote student teaching placements and serve as a primary contact for students, Ball State employees, and schools regarding status.
Ranking8Job DutyUpdate and maintain student files, both paper and digital.
Ranking9Job DutyParticipate in student teaching application meetings, introduction to student teaching workshops, student teaching orientation, and meetings pertaining to Germany, Aldine, IU Global Gateway, the Indiana Department of Education, and other student teaching opportunities. A limited number of meetings may be conducted after normal business hours to accommodate student schedules.
Ranking10Job DutyProvide support related to student teaching for university supervisors and OTES-CP leadership. This includes generated reports and the status of current placements.
Ranking11Job DutyUse Tk20/Excel/database to provide data for weekly, quarterly, and annual reports on student teaching placements and other reporting needs as approved by the Director of OTES-CP.
Ranking12Job DutySupport the honorarium process and the Office Coordinator for the payment of classroom mentor teachers.
Ranking13Job DutySupport the course transfer process, the Office Coordinator, and scheduling specialists in determining the appropriate classes and credit hours for each individual student.
Ranking14Job DutyAssign and review work, orient and train student employees, make recommendations in areas related to supervision, including but not limited to interviewing and selection, discipline, performance appraisal and training.
Ranking15Job DutyAssist student employees as needed; walk-in clients, and phone calls.
