SALARY RANGE: DOE Based on Current Teacher Salary Matrix & Collective bargaining Agreement

Schedule: Full-time aligned to the 2024-2025 school district calendar which ends June 13, 2025.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a passionate ELL Teacher specializing in instruction for middle and high school students through a hybrid approach that involves in-person support and online instruction utilizing APEX. The ideal candidate will provide proficiency-based instruction that support the English Language Learners, focusing on a variety of courses during the 2024-2025 school year. This role involves collaborating with colleagues to create effective strategies that meet the diverse needs of ELL students. It’s a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the academic and linguistic growth of students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education with a valid (or eligible for) Montana teaching license.
  • Experience with English Language Learners in middle or high school (preferred).
  • Strong skills in instructional planning and classroom management.
  • Ability to differentiate elective instruction for diverse ELL needs, from newcomers to long-term English learners.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching.
  • Familiarity with instructional technology and digital resources for instruction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Deliver proficiency-based instructional approaches to English Language Learners in middle and high school through a hybrid model supported by APEX online programming.
  • Implement individualized learning plans for ELL students with diverse linguistic and academic needs in various courses, including those with limited or interrupted formal education (SLIFE).
  • Provide language and subject content support to ELL students in the classroom through co-teaching, push-in, or pull-out models, ensuring that language barriers do not hinder understanding and application.
  • Assess students’ language proficiency and subject understanding using appropriate formative and summative assessment tools, and use data to inform instructional planning and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure the integration of language development and instruction across the middle and high school curriculum.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that values cultural diversity and promotes students’ linguistic and growth.
  • Communicate effectively with multilingual students, families, and stakeholders, providing regular updates on students’ progress.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in the field of education for English language learners and multicultural education.
  • Stay current with research and trends in second language acquisition, culturally responsive teaching, and educational technology.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives to support English Language Learners and promote equity and diversity in the middle and high school community.

Additional Knowledge of and Skill in:

  • Communicating effectively in English, both verbally and in writing (e.g., correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation)
  • Operating standard office equipment as well as computer programs and applications (e.g., email, system applications, word processing, database, spreadsheet, desktop publishing, etc.)
