Employment Terms: This job is a part-time, non-benefited FLSA Exempt position in the Economic Development Division that reports to the International Education Director.

Schedule: Monday & Wednesday OR Tuesday & Thursday, 9:00am-12:00pm or 6:00pm- 9:00pm or a combination schedule.

Salary: Targeted salary is paid in a lump sum based on contact hours taught.

Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 10317): Prior Teaching or training experience

Preferred Qualifications: Adult or K-12 educational background, in English; Cross-cultural and/or secondary language acquisition skills; Ability to accommodate different learning styles with sensitivity to diverse cultures in a student-centered, task-based classroom; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Strong interpersonal skills; Creativity and enthusiasm in providing an environment conducive to learning.

Job Description: Under general supervision instruction of English as a Second Language for non-credit courses at a technical college. Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Attends in-service training and workshops. Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area.

Duties/Responsibilities

1. Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for non-credit courses. (Performed by all incumbents)

1. Delivers effective programs of instruction to class members.

2. Ensures adherence to technical college and safety requirements in classrooms and labs by following established procedures.

3. Correctly assesses the educational needs and academic progress of students.

2. Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives. (Performed by all incumbents)

1. Establishes criteria and tests the students in order to measure each student’s progress.

2. Communicates students’ progress to appropriate personnel and according to established guidelines.

3. Accurately records pertinent information in students’ records as required.

3. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. (Performed by all incumbents)

1. Prepares and submits student’s progress and participation reports in accordance with the prescribed guidelines. Conducts follow-up surveys.

2. Compiles and submits reports in a timely manner to supervisor.
