Description and FunctionsOpen Until FilledGENERAL DESCRIPTION:This position provides general campus security, behavioral support for difficult resident issues, and emergency medical response for health-related issues. The Wyoming Life Resource Center (WLRC) operates an Intermediate Care Facility and a newly constructed Skilled Nursing Facility.The Wyoming Life Resource Center offers competitive pay and an excellent State of Wyoming benefits package!Human Resource Contact: Tammy / 307-335-6794 /ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

  • Respond to medical emergencies involving residents and staff. Situations may require the use of CPR and/or an AED.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly fire drills on Life Safety Code-certified buildings. Evaluate and document performance and participate in briefings to identify problems and suggest corrections.
  • Conduct daily security checks of facility buildings and surrounding state property. Ensure building doors are secured after hours.
  • Patrol campus by vehicle and on foot to provide a visual presence for staff and visitors. Offer assistance as needed and ensure compliance with traffic rules and speed limits.
  • Complete reports and documentation.
  • Fingerprint new employees.
  • Respond to resident behavior emergencies and assume a lead role for difficult, aggressive, or combative resident behaviors. Participate in team debriefings.
  • Diffuse and mediate contentious situations between employees and/or visitors who are agitated.
  • Act as Incident Commander during disaster situations.
  • Respond to and assist with common household utility problems.
  • Complete training requirements and maintain certification in all required courses, including BLS, Mandt, Advanced Mandt, FEMA 100, 200, 700, and 800.
  • Train and prepare for the conditions of a disaster. Design and conduct mock events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QualificationsPREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:Preference may be given to applicants with one or more years of security experience. Experience in the healthcare field is a plus.**The Agency requires the ability to become certified in BLS, Mandt, Advanced Mandt, and FEMA courses 100, 200, 700, and 800 within nine (9) months of employment. These certifications must be maintained throughout employment in this position.KNOWLEDGE:

  • Skills in First Aid, CPR, and BLS.
  • Ability to pass and maintain certification in BLS, Mandt, Advanced Mandt, and FEMA courses 100, 200, 700, and 800.
  • Knowledge of Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) and Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) environmental regulations, fire drill requirements, and facility fire and disaster plans.
  • Knowledge of the Incident Command System and ability to effectively function as the Incident Commander during a disaster event.
  • Knowledge of facility security procedures and state and facility policies.
  • Skills in verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to accurately write reports and document information. Reports and documentation must be legible, easy to understand, and written with proper grammar.
  • Knowledge of state and local laws pertaining to trespassing, vehicle accidents, and crime scene protection.
  • Ability to obtain a broad range of knowledge of facility residents.
  • Ability and skill to resolve basic household utility problems.
  • Skill and ability to deal with residents, staff, and the general public in a tactful and professional manner.
  • Ability to mediate between upset staff and help resolve conflicts in a tactful and professional manner.
  • Ability to respond appropriately in crisis situations and the skill to interact professionally with local emergency response personnel.
  • Ability to work with and around WLRC residents, including those who may display challenging behaviors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Substitution:1-3 years of progressive work experience as a Security Guard with the acquired knowledge at the level of a Security Escort
OREducation:Associate’s Degree (typically in Criminal Justice)Experience:0-1 year of progressive work experience as a Security Guard with the acquired knowledge at the level of a Security Escort.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:Agency may require a CDL license.Necessary Special RequirementsPHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work in a variety of locations and on a variety of surfaces.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items.
  • Must be able to safely move, position, and lift people with multiple and severe disabilities (requires twisting, bending, kneeling, lifting, pushing, and pulling).
  • Ability to monitor sounds, noises, clients’ location, etc. to assure safety and assess imminent danger and emerging concerns.
  • Requires the ability to respond to resident behavioral issues.
