Candidates with a doctorate may be considered for the rank of Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor. This full-time non-tenure-line position is available August 15, 2025, for the academic year. Responsibilities include teaching in the areas such as exercise physiology, exercise prescription, fitness assessment, and anatomy; administration of the Clinical Exercise Physiology’s Adult Physical Fitness Program and/or exercise testing laboratory within the Human Performance Laboratory; and active engagement in department, college, University, and professional service. This position reports to the Chair of the School of Kinesiology.

Minimum QualificationsApplicants must have a master’s degree in exercise physiology or closely related field from an accredited college or university by time of appointment.

Experience in teaching and/or exercise programming is also required.

Authorization to work in the USCandidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.Preferred QualificationsPreferred candidates will have an earned doctorate in exercise physiology or closely related field from an accredited college or university. Additional consideration will also be given to applicants who hold a professional certification from the American College of Sports Medicine (Exercise Physiologist [ACSM-EP], or Clinical Exercise Physiologist [ACSM-CEP]), have experience in clinical exercise programs (e.g. cardiac rehabilitation), and experience mentoring or supervising students.

More than 30 faculty members are committed to approximately 750 students through undergraduate programs in aquatics, coaching, exercise science, physical education and health, and sport administration, and graduate programs in athletic coaching education, athletic training, biomechanics, clinical exercise physiology, exercise physiology, sport administration, sport and exercise psychology, and human bioenergetics. As part of the University Core Curriculum, the School houses the physical fitness and wellness program that reflects Ball State’s commitment to positively impacting quality of life and the University’s mission of students living meaningful lives and thriving in fulfilling careers. School facilities include 7 laboratories for both teaching and research: Human Performance Laboratory, Clinical Exercise Physiology Laboratory, Biomechanics Laboratory, Sport and Exercise Psychology Laboratory, Exercise Science and First Aid Laboratory, Integrative Exercise Physiology Laboratory, and Athletic Training Teaching and Research Laboratory.

The COLLEGE OF HEALTH is a vital health resource for Indiana in preparing health professionals bymoving boldly forward in making interprofessional education, practice and research, its paradigm across disciplines. The College offers 32 academic programs in 7 units: Departments of Counseling Psychology, Social Psychology, and Counseling; Military Science; Nutrition and Health Science; Speech Pathology and Audiology; and Social Work plus Schools of Nursing and Kinesiology. More than 200 faculty and staff serve about 2,800 students. We partner with regional communities for immersive learning and research. Our Health Professions Building, opened in 2019, is LEED Gold certified and houses state of the art Simulation and Skills Laboratories. Other facilities include the Health and Physical Activity complex, Ball Gymnasium, and Lewellen Aquatic Center.

We are committed to serving the community through health services and research. In the past year, our Interprofessional Community Clinics offered a range of health and mental health services delivered by 300 student clinicians supervised by 40 licensed faculty practitioners to more than 4,100 community members, accounting for about 12,000 visits. In addition, students attended, hosted, or sponsored more than 100 community outreach events delivering health education and screenings to an estimated 2,000 people of all ages through the Clinics and the Healthy Lifestyle Center. Our faculty and students contribute to the evidence base for their respective disciplines. The College is active in research, currently with 53 active awards, totaling $14.3 million. Our footprint features the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies, Center for Substance Use Research and Community Initiatives, Human Performance Lab and other research labs.
