ESL COORDINATOR (EVENINGS) – PART-TIME

ADULT LEARNING CENTER

4-DAYS A WEEK/16-HOURS, 32-WEEKS

$50.00 PER HOUR

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide supervision and support for the identification, placement, and instruction of ESL Adult Education Students.
  • Research and evaluate appropriate strategies to address the needs of adult learners.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive ESL programing for Adult Education Students.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and district mandates concerning Adult Education.
  • Support part-time staff in instructional BEST practices in the classroom including modeling and the development of lessons.
  • Provide leadership and possess an understanding of all adult education programs including High School Credit Diploma Program, General Educational Development, National External Diploma Program and English as a Second Language.
  • Provide classroom and remote instruction to a diverse group of Adult Education Students.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Adult Education.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification: Teaching Non-English-Speaking Adults (088), Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TSOL 111), or Intermediate Administrator (092) preferred but not required.
  • Classroom experience teaching ELL in a secondary school setting.
  • An understanding of the Literacy Adult and Community Educating System (LACES).
  • An understanding of the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS).
  • The ability to connect and collaborate with community agencies to ensure students have access to all available supports.
  • Experience planning and presenting professional development to ESL instructors.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work requires.
