The Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Science at New York University seeks applicants for a full-time, non-tenure track teaching position in its graduate master’s program, pending final budgetary and administrative approval. This position will start as early as January 2024.

The responsibilities of the position include: 1) teaching courses in the master’s psychology program, 2) student advising and research/thesis mentoring, and 3) academic administration including co-creating a curriculum in clinical psychology focusing on research in mental health and psychopathology.

Compensation:

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $60,000 – $80,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have teaching experience focusing on research in clinical psychology, including experimental psychopathology and various approaches to therapy. The candidate will be advising students who are pursuing careers in academia, would like to join PhD and PsyD programs, or subsequently want to pursue other careers related to the psychology of mental and physical health. The breadth and flexibility to mentor students’ research across a variety of specializations in clinical psychology including both theoretical and applied perspectives of mental health is essential.

Candidates should describe their experience and knowledge of relevant research approaches in clinical psychology and psychopathology in their cover letter and CV. Any experience with academic program administration should be described as well. Candidates should express a commitment to working with students from a diverse global population. A Ph.D. in Psychology from an institution of higher education is required.
