THE ROLE:

Working with our Production team in Calgary, this will be a full-time student position from May through August 2025. During your summer, you will gain exposure to the energy industry by attending sessions hosted by subject matter experts and will have an opportunity to showcase your learnings with your student network. HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:

  • Enhance data quality, integrity, and reporting standards to improve overall data reliability
  • Assist the data analytics team in developing a long-term reporting and analytics strategy
  • Gather, clean, and organize raw data from a variety of sources to enable in-depth analytics and reporting
  • Analyze and interpret complex data sets using statistical techniques to extract meaningful insights
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to improve and optimize data ingestion pipelines and patterns for efficient analytics
  • Develop and maintain data models and schemas to support business intelligence and reporting needs
  • Design and produce effective reports and interactive dashboards from diverse data sources to inform key stakeholders
  • Programmatically format, extract, and manipulate data to support advanced analysis and decision-making processes
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends, patterns, and anomalies in large datasets to support data-driven strategies
  • Conduct Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) to uncover hidden relationships and patterns in data
  • Participate in various data engineering and analytics projects as required

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Actively enrolled in an undergraduate degree or diploma program at a Canadian post-secondary institution, and must be returning to undergraduate studies after the work term
  • Enrolled in Bachelor of Science with a major in Petroleum, Computer, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or Bachelor of Data Science
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with advanced Excel skills
  • Familiarity with programming languages (Python, R, Powershell, VBA, Javascript) is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Visualization Software Packages (PowerBI, Spotfire, Tableau) is advantageous
  • Experience with relational databases and query languages, such as SQL
  • Understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and experience with data pipeline tools like Apache Airflow or dbt.
  • Some experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) for data storage
  • Exceptional analytical and communication skills
  • The ability to collaborate and build strong working relationships with your team, peers, and diverse business groups
  • Strong time and data management skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
