Position Summary

The Indiana University School of Medicine’s Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery, is actively recruiting a full-time general surgeon to join the faculty at the assistant or associate professor level. The ideal candidate will manage general surgery cases and should be comfortable addressing complex surgical problems. In this role you will have the opportunity to work with a collaborative group of surgeons and APPs providing exceptional general surgery care at our IU Health West Hospital located in a rapidly growing suburb right outside of Indianapolis. 

Clinical teaching is the mainstay of educational duties with opportunities to interact with medical students, surgical residents, and fellows in the office, inpatient, and OR settings. In addition, there are nonclinical didactic and simulation-based teaching opportunities offered in the Department of Surgery Skills Lab. Research opportunities will be available for those candidates desiring to pursue an area of interest or with an established niche already in place.

Basic Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy 
  • American Board of surgery board eligible/board certified surgeon
  • Ability to obtain IN licensure 
  • Valid, current passport and ability to travel internationally, nationally and locally
  • Experience or training in an academic setting
  • Experience working with diverse cultures and in underserved or under-resourced communities
