ESL Substitute Instructor in Goshen, New York

Job Description:

The Adult Education program at Orange-Ulster BOCES is seeking dedicated and passionate Substitute Instructors for our English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. As a substitute instructor, you will play a crucial role in helping adult learners improve their English language skills through reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide instruction in ESL, incorporating civics education into the curriculum.

• Implement differentiated instruction to cater to various English Learner levels.

• Follow the emergency lesson plans provided by the instructor, or prepare and execute your own lesson plan if none is available.

• Manage classroom logistics, including ensuring students sign in and out of the class roster and submitting this information to the course instructor or program manager.

Qualifications:

• Experience teaching ESL or a related field is preferred.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to engage and motivate adult learners.

• Flexibility to adapt lesson plans and teaching methods to meet diverse learner needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Teaching certification in ESL or related area.

• Experience with adult education and diverse learner populations.

Work Hours:

• Shifts available: 9 AM – 12 PM, 12 PM – 3 PM, or 6 PM – 9 PM.

Work Locations:

• Middletown and Newburgh locations
