Job Description

HMTS Tutors are responsible for the planning and delivery of classes in liaison with the Principal. As well as preparing students for shows. Tutors will be required to communicate effectively with the other Subject Leads and the Principal. Tutors will also be required to write student reports once a year.

All Tutors should have a passion for, and strong knowledge and experience of Musical Theatre, their subject area, and be enthusiastic about training the next generation of performers. Tutors should be personable and approachable and maintain and inspire the high standards of Hope Mill Theatre. Tutors should have a strong knowledge of Child Protection protocols and be willing to undertake further training and a DBS check.

The role will be 3 hours 45 mins mins on a Saturday morning in term time. The role is paid at £25 per hour.

Job Requirements

Education and Qualifications

Degree or dance school training in subject area – Essential

First Aid Certificate – Desirable

Teaching Qualifications – Desirable

DBS Check/Willingness to undertake a DBS Check – Essential

Experience/Knowledge

Extensive practical experience of performance

West End or equivalent credits

Previous teaching experience

Experience of preparing students for exams

Extensive knowledge of Dance technique

Experience of working with Children and Young People

Extensive knowledge of Child Protection policy and procedure

Skills and Abilities

Ability to work within a small team

Ability to inspire students to achieve their potential.

Highly organised

Ability to communicate effectively with the Principal and other staff members

Personal Qualities

Enthusiasm and flexibility

Sympathetic to students’ needs

Passionate about musical theatre
