Who are we? The British Embassy in Paris is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. It is also part of the UK’s France Network, including offices in Lyon, Bordeaux and Marseilles and representation to international organisations in Paris (OECD and UNESCO) and Strasbourg (CoE). The British Embassy is currently looking for a Deputy Post Security Manager (AO graded), to be part of the France Network Post Security Management Team, reporting to the Post Security Manager (PSM) and working alongside and in close conjunction with the other Deputy-Post Security Manager (D-PSM) to support the PSM and provide leadership to and active management of the France Network Security Team which includes the Mail Room Team; Transport Team; and Reception Team; as well as a sub-contracted Private Security Team. Main purpose of job: This is a high-profile role and the d-PSM is expected to be highly visible and present in the Embassy to meet ALL operational requirements including emergency response and to provide resilience for the PSM (& for the other d-PSM when required). The role covers the whole of the France Network with occasional travel to and visibility at France Network outposts therefore also required. Amongst their many other duties, this d-PSM will also have particular responsibility for the BE Paris Mail Room – a critical piece of the Embassy’s security infrastructure – as well as for all security at the avenue Gabriel side of the Embassy. This is a full time, permanent contract. The position is based on a 35/H week, due to the nature of the work there is the requirement to occasionally be on Weekend on call when required. Overtime will be paid as and when required.
All appointments are subject to professional background check satisfactory security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to provide a copy of his/her passport or national identity card for all nationalities held, an up-to-date criminal record (casier judiciaire) for recent countries of residence (which can be obtained online at https://www.cjn.justice.gouv.fr/cjn/b3/eje20), two written proofs of address (utility invoices and/or bank statements) and two references.

The jobholder will be enrolled in specific training related to:
– First Aid;
– Health and Safety;
– General Data Protection regulation;
– Security Basics for Country Based Staff.
The successful applicant will be encouraged to be actively involved in the corporate life of the British Embassy, contributing to the wider objectives of the British Government’s through the France network and supporting the British Embassy’s positive working environment.
Working Pattern: The position is based on a 35- hour working week. However, due to the nature of the work there is the requirement to work some irregular hours, particularly starting early and finishing late, during the working week. There may also be requirements to work on weekends. The successful candidate will be entitled to overtime payments for working additional hours/ overtime payment as and when required.
