The CT State Community College is developing a pool of applicants for potential part-time teaching positions for the non-credit course offerings in the Languages fields.

Courses include the following:

  • English as a Second Language (ESL)

These positions are on continuous recruitment, and are filled on an as-needed basis, depending on course offerings, enrollment and specific department needs. Position Summary:

CSCU is developing a pool of applicants for potential part-time teaching positions in the Continuing Education and Workforce Development within the non-credit division at the College. The Non-Credit Lecturer must meet all teaching expectations, as outlined by the Director of Workforce Development.

Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in TESOL, English/Composition, Linguistics, Foreign Language, or Education.
  • Two (2) years of teaching college level ESL courses.
  • Experience with online teaching platforms including but not limited to Blackboard, WebEx and Microsoft Teams.
  • Prior experience in Course work for adult education certification in ESL or Certificate in TESOL

Exceptions to the degree requirements may be made for compelling reasons.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s in in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, English, Foreign Language, and two years of teaching ESL at the college/adult level.
  • Or MA in Education with a focus on TESOL, secondary education, or adult education and two years of teaching ESL at the college/adult level.

Salary:

Commensurate with specific course, location & demand.
