The Gurney lab at Georgia State University is seeking dedicated PhD students to join our innovative research on phage therapy. Specifically, we are looking for a candidate to work on selection and optimization of phage therapy for treating chronic infections. Our work focuses on developing targeted phage cocktails against persistent pathogens such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, leveraging state of the art techniques such as single-cell RNA sequencing to understand and enhance phage-host interactions. This research aims to create phage treatments that are highly effective in complex, infection-like environments while minimizing immunogenicity, offering new hope for patients with chronic infections.

Candidates should have a strong interest in microbiology, phage therapy, and translational research. The positions are fully funded for 5 years.
