Position Information Sylvania High School is a comprehensive high school located in the Sutherland Shire and residing on the land the Dharawal speaking people. The student population is approximately 740 with 50% EAL/D students and 19 Aboriginal students. The staff are committed to sustaining a positive learning culture that ensures the school is highly valued in the community. Our school has a well established reputation for outstanding academic, performing and creative arts and sporting achievements. The school has highly successful leadership, wellbeing and activism programs that enable students to develop their skills to be well prepared for the world beyond school. The school has a Support Unit with three Autism (AU) classes, and one Intellectually Moderate and Autism (IO/AU) class.
Note: The successful applicant will have predominately a Visual Arts teaching and will be located in the CAPA faculty.
Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach Visual Arts and English (7-10).
Evidence of effective classroom practice that includes the ability to cater for students with a diverse range of learning needs through differentiated curriculum, classroom management and integration of technology.
Demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative member of the CAPA faculty and contribute to faculty programs and resources.
Well-developed interpersonal, communicative, and organisational skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and the community.
Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
