Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced freelance researcher / consultant to support the development of a borough-wide creative careers programme in Richmond. Help develop a new programme in cultural education, committed to helping young people pursue careers in the culture and creative industries.

Job Description

As part of https://www.richmond.gov.uk/council/how_we_work/policies_and_plans/culture_richmond/culture_richmond_vision/culture_richmond_empower – Culture Richmond 2021-31, we are committed to supporting cultural education and helping young people pursue careers in the culture and creative industries. In order to achieve this, we need to identify and understand what Richmond currently offers that is unique and what our children, young people, teachers and adults want from creative careers advice and support, and what might be missing. This role will identify strengths and best practice, needs and opportunities, and facilitate initial partnership meetings. The research will propose a set of recommendations that will inform next steps in terms of creative careers programme which will aim to improve equity, accessibility and sustainability for young people in Richmond interested in the creative industries.

Key information

  • Deadline to apply: 9am Monday 11 November
  • Fee: £6000 (excluding VAT) inclusive of all fees, materials and expenses for the delivery of the project.
  • 15 days work over February – May 2025. This is flexible working so you are able to work the days/hours that work for your schedule. We expect the amount of work to take 15 days.

Job Requirements

We are looking for an individual, a collective or organisation who has:

  • Knowledge or experience of career pathways into the creative industries
  • Experience of consulting with or facilitating workshops with communities and stakeholders, including young people
  • Experience of working within or producing research for the cultural education and/or youth and community sectors
  • Awareness of funding for arts programmes
  • Experience of working with diverse audiences
  • Experience or an interest in creating programmes which are accessible and inclusive
  • The ability to work in a collaborative manner with all members of staff and volunteers at Richmond Arts Service and Orleans House Gallery
