Thus, the Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions for Non-Tenure Track Faculty should be interpreted in the context of the related departmental and collegiate teaching goals.
Teaching – Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe William States Lee College of Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites exceptionally qualified candidates for a 9-month non-tenure track faculty position at Teaching Assistant / Associate Professor/Professor of Practice/Lecturer ranks in Civil Engineering Technology and Construction Management fields, with an anticipated start date of January 2025. The Engineering Technology and Construction Management Department is seeking teaching professionals who are interested in a full-time academic career in teaching and service in construction means & methods, estimating, scheduling, project controls, construction administration and Construction Engineering topics.
Candidates with diverse industry and practical experience in Civil Engineering Technology and Construction Management are strongly encouraged to apply.
Minimum Experience/EducationUNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education, Skills and ExperienceUNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline for the rank of Teaching Assistant/Associate Professor or Masters degree in the teaching discipline for the rank of Professor of Practice or Lecturer. A minimum of 5 years of practical industry experience relevant to the target course topics is desired.
Teaching experience, preferable with a demonstrated record of effective teaching in higher education and 10+ years of industry experience in multiple sectors of construction (Residential, Commercial, Heavy Civil and Industrial) with expertise in the target course topics.
