Main purpose of job:
Working to the Post Security Officer Shanghai and by extension the Regional Overseas Security Manager (ROSM), the PSM and ITSO role will manage the day to day security and IT of the mission on a 50/50 split.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
Manage Windows network with 100+ users
- Respond to user support requests
- Troubleshoot and resolve user problems
- Provide ad-hoc training to users to help them make the most of the system
- Manage user accounts and access to the system
- Maintain and keep administration records
- Escalate problems to IT colleagues in the China Network and UK as appropriate
Manage Hardware and network infrastructure
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and network problems with both IT hardware and telephone systems
- Escalate problems to IT colleagues in the China Network and UK as appropriate
- Rebuild and replace faulty equipment
- Upkeep of hardware inventory
- Project and maintenance work as required
Manage the security of the mission and IT systems
- Control user access to the system
- Management of mission access and passes
- Risk management , being a key point of contact for the identification and rectification of security concerns;;
- Maintain and keep administration records on security processes and procedures updating accordingly
- Act as a link between HR and the Beijing security team on staff clearances
- Act as a source of support and information to staff
- Act as one of the key role in the office maintenance work and provide the professional IT&Security advice. Liaise with any contractors, STSOs who require access to the building for maintenance work;
- Manage and maintain the CCTV and alarm systems across the mission
- Ensure IT and standard security procedures are complied with
- Escalate potential breaches as appropriate.
Management and maintenance of non-business critical systems
- Manage user accounts and access to a small windows network
- Management and monitor of hardware, software and network infrastructure
- Help to work on small scale.
IT training, learning and development
- Lead the awareness building and capability across an organisation of 100+ users
- Lead the training plan to staff on processes, equipment and applications
Mission Crisis Response
- Maintain and update Post Crisis Management Plan with relation to IT and equipment
- Develop Business Continuity solutions with relation to IT and Equipment
- Maintain equipment for crisis response
- Support in improving mission crisis response
Support China Network
- Support other posts by travel or remotely when necessary

- At least 2 years relevant working experience
- Knowledge of Windows network systems
- Fault-resolution and network/application troubleshooting across Windows network environments
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of viruses, hoaxes, and associated anti-virus programs, resources and avoidance strategies
- Experienced at helping users get the most out of IT systems
- Knowledge of physical protection systems
- Knowledge of risk methodologies for security surveys
- Experience with Risk Management for both information and physical security
- Experience running a secure working environment and coordinating secure procedures

Working Patterns:
35 hours of work per week from Monday to Friday, 08:00-17:00. There will be occasions that require you work outside normal hours.
