About the Job
The College of Continuing and Professional Studies (CCAPS) offers the Master of Professional Studies in Horticulture, an applied professional degree designed to offer education in the science of growing plants and complementary courses to support the career-ready knowledge for students engaging in small-scale landscapes, farms, gardens, and other businesses. This position reports to the Director of Graduate Programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide instruction for APS graduate level courses in a variety of modalities
- Work with the Director of Graduate Studies for the HORT program and with CCAPS staff to ensure successful alignment with the program curriculum
- Use industry and content expertise and keep current with research findings, workforce trends, professional ethics, and policies to inform depth and breadth of course content
- Utilize new technologies to enhance curriculum delivery and accessibility to accommodate working adult students
- Utilize pedagogical best practices for diverse working adult learners.
- Must be able to teach at scheduled class times, including evening and weekends and respond to course related student inquiries within 48 hours
- Proven ability to work successfully with diverse groups of people
Qualifications
Required
- A demonstrative skill & commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
- Master’s degree in a related field
- At least 3 semesters of teaching experience or 7 years of professional experience in a field directly related to course instruction
Preferred
- A PhD or equivalent terminal degree in a field closely related to the course of instruction
- Ten or more years of professional experience in a field directly related to the course of instruction or 5 semesters of teaching experience
- Teaching at the graduate level
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills and proven ability to work successfully with diverse groups of people

Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: Instructors are paid $2280 per credit for full enrollment courses. For example, a three credit course at full enrollment would be paid at $6840.
