Position Summary:
This position is accountable for activities related to supporting program participants in developing and achieving academic, vocational/employment, and program goals; this position also supports the program with program activities which include development and coordination of program and community services. This position is also accountable for maintaining accurate and up to date case files. This position also includes teaching and responsibilities associated with teaching.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess and accurately track family goals by developing individual and family goal plans for the adult (ex. qualified students seeking post-secondary education, employment, or training opportunities) or parent (ex. Increase literacy to read to child).
- Identify family barriers to program success and refer adults to community service providers to address those barriers and provide appropriate resources.
- Meet regularly with program participants to provide support, discuss progress/concerns, and make referrals to appropriate community support services.
- Coordinate and monitor student attendance hours to maintain family persistence, including supplemental and online distance learning activities.
- Maintain accurate participant records and case documentation (sharefile) and databases regarding goals, barriers, attendance, other related student information or other clerical data as assigned to follow AIU, state and federal policies and regulations.
- Conduct family orientation and administer assessments for program participants as needed.
- Establish and maintain relationships with partner school districts, social service agencies, and other community systems which impact program participants, and share data when appropriate.
- Participate in state mandated activities, including but not limited to PLC meetings, teacher training, staff development, program improvement, and other AIU or state program initiatives that support program development as directed by the coordinator. This includes completing the new staff induction modules within the current program year of being hired.
- Work with all AIU staff and students to effectively understand and create a positive, respectful learning environment that promotes a culture of learning within the framework of our program guidelines including the discussion of program policies, technology usage, orientation, other as needed.
- Assist program with a variety of community outreach, training and recruitment such as attending partner meetings as requested.
- Provide mentoring and coaching to class aides, new staff, and other team members.
- Follow all AIU and Adult education, program-related policies and procedures, and identify and immediately refer to program coordinator any issues regarding emergency issues/plans, classroom management, teacher, tutor or student concerns, supply needs, etc as directed.
- Provide daily program communication to staff, students, and program partners via calls, texts, and emails which are documented in a timely manner according to program procedures.
- Perform a variety of non-instructional responsibilities as needed and assigned, such as clerical, data collection and entry, curriculum development, case management, recruitment, training, and/or any additional tasks related to the general operation of the Adult Education Program.
- Adhere to deadlines, class schedules, appointments, meetings, and work effectively in meeting goals on a daily basis.
- Ability to travel between class sites and locations and maintain a clean and orderly classroom, staff work areas and storage areas and travel supplies as needed.
- Assist in additional program related events, activities and class coverage when needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, social work, or related field required
- Minimum of (1) year student advisement or related experience is preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in Adult Education preferred.
- Knowledge/experience working with English Language Learners preferred.
- Demonstrated basic level expertise in Microsoft Office Products/Google products for use and presentation is required
- Good written/oral communication and interpersonal skills, strong communication, organizational and recordkeeping skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, initiative, and ability to work with limited supervision.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
- Ability to comply with the AIU policies and procedures.

Position Schedule: Monday thru Thursday, up to 20 hours per week, afternoons and evenings.
Salary: $23 per hour
Benefits: This is a part-time position.
