1. Job Summary

As the innovation and drug discovery hub of SINOVAC, the United Research Institute of SINOVAC (URIS) is committed to “uniting the power of global science and promoting global health”. Established in 2023, URIS focuses on unmet medical needs, integrating cutting-edge research and significant findings to develop first-in-class innovation in vaccines, antibodies, and cell gene therapy, accelerating the market launch of high-quality products.

URIS is recruiting principal investigators (PI) to manage research teams focused on drug development for infectious diseases, metabolic diseases, oncology, neurological diseases, and autoimmune diseases. As the “CEO” of the designated research direction, the PI is fully responsible for overall planning and project implementation. Through cross-functional cooperation, both internal and external to the team, the PI will solve cutting-edge problems, focusing on unmet needs regarding diseases, and carry out innovative drug R&D.

 

2. Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement R&D strategies in the field of diseases.
  2. Conduct research on early drug development projects, responsible for project planning and implementation to specific goals.
  3. Provide leadership and expert scientific guidance to teams; continually optimize best practice; deliver results that meet quality and productivity objectives.
  4. Responsible for managing and progressing collaborative transformation research projects, independently developing research topics/project capabilities; combining  research with goal developments and implement them.
  5. Advise senior management on project strategies and scientific de-risking. Through internal or external collaboration with cross-functional teams, solving cutting-edge problems, focusing on unmet medical needs regarding diseases, and carrying out innovative drug R&D..
  6. Facilitate and mentor group members in effective communication and teamwork within the group, project teams, and intra- and inter-departmental functions.

 

3. Qualification and Requirements

  1. Ph.D in biology/medicine/virology/immunology/clinical practice or any relevant field.
  2. More than 10 years of relevant work experience in research, drug development/review/R&D management/clinical trials/clinical treatment; have led crucial scientific research projects, or worked as an associate professor or above in well-known universities.
  3. Sound knowledge of biopharmaceutical research and clinical practice related to infectious diseases/chronic diseases/tumors/antibody drugs/CGTs.
  4. Experience in independently developing research projects, and experience in transformation to further research goals. Priority will be given to those with successful product or drug development experience (completing clinical trials or achieving market launch).
  5. Experience in managing an internal team and external stakeholders.
