Description and FunctionsOpen Until FilledGENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Wyoming Pioneer Home is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Human Services Aide (CNA). The purpose of this position is to assist the nursing staff in providing health care for the personal/physical needs, comfort, and safety of the facility’s residents. The successful applicant will perform duties and tasks delegated by the charge RN and/or nurse manager. The Wyoming Pioneer Home is a licensed assisted living facility in Thermopolis, WY, near Hot Springs State Park, with many activities available.**This position is eligible for a $2,000 hiring bonus**See notes for eligibility and conditions.

- Implements care in accordance with professional standards of the Home.
- Adheres to the WDH Culture Statement.
- Maintains residents’ rights and responds with sensitivity, flexibility, and cultural awareness to the residents and their families or appropriate persons.
- Assist residents in helping to keep their independence.
- Know CPR and proper body mechanics.
- Assist residents with personal care needs, blood pressure, weight, etc.
- Assist residents to the local doctor and other medical appointments.
- Attends staff training and staff meetings as required.
- Be able to assist residents with baths and showers.
- Follows the directions of the charge nurse.
- Become aware of the residents’ needs by listening to them and reporting complaints/problems/concerns/behavioral changes.
- Provides for activities of daily living.
QualificationsPREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIRMENTS:Preference may be given to individuals with six months or more experience in long term care.**Must possess a current CNA certificate.KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Knowledge of relevant nursing care.
- Knowledge of infection control.
- Knowledge of effective oral, written, and reading communication skills.
- Knowledge of motivational techniques.
- Knowledge of proper operation of a motor vehicle.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Associate’s Degree (typically in Healthcare)Experience:No prior experience requiredOREducation & Experience Substitution:1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Human Services)ORCertificates, Licenses, Registrations:CNA Certification obtained within twelve (12) months of hireNecessary Special RequirementsPHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must possess strength, stamina, and mobility to lift up to 50 lbs safely.
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods and be flexible enough to assist the residents with ADLs.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, lift, carry, push, and pull.
- Must be able to work evenings, nights, and/or weekends and holidays.
NOTES:
- FLSA: Non-Exempt
- A background information check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, the Wyoming Department of Family Services, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant.
- Annual influenza immunization is required.
- A pre-employment drug screening is required by the Wyoming Department of Health.
