Postdoctoral fellow

A position is available for a postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in cancer biology and immunology. This postdoctoral fellow will work under the direction of Dr. Chakrabarti at the NCI designated Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Department of Surgery, Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami. The lab is interested in understanding the function of immune cells in tumor microenvironment in driving drug resistance/relapse in breast cancer patients. Lab have developed a wide variety mouse tumor models and utilizes human patients’ samples, patient derived organoid co-culture, PDX, confocal microscopy, RNA-sequencing, single cell sequencing besides other standard molecular and biochemical techniques to address these questions. Research is currently funded by multiple grants from NIH, American Cancer Society and Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

 

Job Duties

Plans, directs, and conducts specialized and advanced collaborative research experiments in mice models and patient samples.  Establishes new research protocols and procedures. Evaluates and analyzes data in a timely manner. Summarizes findings, attends lab meetings, and participates in manuscript and grant writing and reviewing. Responsible for some laboratory day to day operations.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidate has completed a PhD degree with research experience in cancer biology and/or immunology. A track record of peer reviewed lead authorship publications is expected. Familiarity with animals and in vitro cancer biology models as well as immunology is needed.  Recently defended Ph.D fellows are encouraged to apply.
