Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

Food Systems Advisor will provide technical support to the CO in:

  • Further developing our engagement in Food Systems,
  • Consolidating existing knowledge and producing a knowledge mapping that allows to identify knowledge gaps.
  • Build upon and further develop identified opportunities for CO engagement in national food systems and formalize WFP related pathways.
  • Put on paper CO engagement in Food Systems and support the diffusion and promotion of CO Food Systems strategy.
  • Assist with national food systems governance processes, making sure that WFP visibility and positioning is maintained and strengthened.
  • Support the technical development of WFP CO staff training of food systems, promoting a “food systems” analytical approach.

Key Technical Areas of Engagement Potentially Identified:

  • Develop a strategy around leveraging the power of supply chain, from WFP to GoB.
  • Food Loss: WFP supply chain as a laboratory for CCS of GoB.
  • National engagement around zero hunger could stem in the creation of a Zero hunger center of excellence.
  • Support integration with food systems foresight engagement (IFAD, FAO, Dutch university)

Qualifications & Experience Required:

Education:

  • Advanced University degree in Sociology, Social Development, Development Economics or Performance Management or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training/courses.

Experience:

  • 6-10 years’ experience in humanitarian/development field. Previous experience working with WFP/other UN agencies/implementing partners, conducting reviews, evaluations or monitoring exercises.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Demonstrated skills in project management in general and managing processes.
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in analysis, listening, influencing and management of stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to engage diverse internal and external stakeholders proactively.
  • Understanding of the country/regional context
  • Technical knowledge in emergency operation, nutrition, resilience and social protection.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and performance management concepts and principles.
  • Familiarity with humanitarian/development planning and implementation systems and institutional roles.
  • Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability.

Languages:

  • Fluency (level C) in English language and the duty station’s language, if different.
