Responsibilities

Instruction

Inclusive teaching at Walden is an intentional practice requiring conscious awareness of the diverse social, cultural, and community identities and lived experiences of all learners.   • Faculty create a welcoming, inclusive environment by regularly connecting and communicating with students in the classroom through various means of communication.
  • Faculty create engaging, dynamic learning environments that encourage student learning, discussion, and growth.

Scholarship

These activities are coordinated with the faculty member’s academic leaders, and specific requirements are determined by the program and/or college.

Service

Walden University recognizes the importance of service as a complement to effective teaching and the development of students as scholar-practitioners. Faculty members demonstrate a strong and consistent record of service to the institution and community in ways that advance its educational mission. Faculty members are encouraged to participate in service activities that are aligned with the Walden mission and demonstrate service to the institution, profession, and/or community. These activities are coordinated with the faculty member’s academic leaders, and specific requirements are determined by the program and/or college.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Faculty adhere to all Walden University faculty expectations, which are clearly set forth at the start of his/her employment and through the Faculty Handbook.
  • Attend virtual and in-person faculty meetings, residencies, workshops, commencement, and training as required.
  • Ability to work a student-friendly schedule (evenings/weekends).

Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in the field of study or closely related field.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who bring diverse perspectives to the program.
  • Capacity and willingness to provide individualized instructional support and guidance to a diverse population of students.
  • Demonstrate capacity through application materials to support Walden University’s mission and vision.
  • Proven track record with professional service and community engagement.
  • Quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-method research experience (required). 
  • Experience completing systematic reviews, meta-analyses, scoping reviews, integrative reviews, thematic analyses, etc.. preferred.
  • Experience with quality improvement and models such as the Johns Hopkins Evidence-based Practice Model.
  • Evidence of scholarship and contributions to the discipline.

Work Experience

  • Ten or more years of professional experience as a healthcare manager, administrator or executive.
  • Three or more years of teaching experience and/or a capacity and willingness to instruct a diverse population of students.
  • Experience supporting doctoral research committees and/or a capacity and willingness to mentor and support a diverse population of doctoral students.
  • Experience with distance learning.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected compensation rate for this position is as follows:

  • Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 – $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 – $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as type of course taught; experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility. Walden also offers other opportunities for its contributing faculty members, such as dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring.
