Job Summary:
The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health is interested in a Family Medicine physician to join the UW Health Portage Clinic. This physician faculty will provide the full spectrum of family medicine skills and patient care. This position will be involved in clinical teaching of medical students and other learners. This position may involve academic scholarly work.
Responsibilities:
Duties will include provision of clinical care of patients, clinical teaching of medical students and other learners, participation in clinical faculty call schedule (phone call only), nursing home visits, departmental meetings, and performing administrative duties as necessary in the position.
This position may also include opportunities to work on collaborative initiatives within UW-SMPH and UW Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship promoting an inclusive environment with other faculty and staff members. The preferred candidate will either have experience teaching and working with a diverse population or will welcome a commitment to teaching and working with a diverse population.
For appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CHS or CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the ChS or CT Track.

Qualifications:
Wisconsin medical licensure required prior to start date.
Certification by or eligible for certification by American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) or American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP).
Successful completion of a fully accredited Family Medicine Residency Program.
Work Type:

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

The University of Wisconsin Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (UW DFMCH) is a large, tier-one clinical department in the UW School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) that offers outstanding educational and research programs. UW DFMCH has 204 faculty, 211 adjunct faculty, and 170 staff located throughout the state transforming health care for all. There are over 160 residents in our sponsored and academic partner programs, with Madison residency program ranking ninth in the nation for 2023. More than 400 medical students train in the department each year. In fiscal year 2023, our physicians and residents practicing at 17 clinics throughout the state managed over 403,900 patient visits – an integral part of the department’s success that demonstrates its commitment to patient care. Research funding from the NIH and other state, federal and private sources exceeded $6.7 million in fiscal year 2023 and supported major research projects in pain management, opioid prescription guidelines, mobile health for alcohol use disorder treatment, management of sinusitis, and infectious disease surveillance. This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
This vacancy is being announced as either CHS and CT Track. Having two tracks posted into this vacancy listed allows the School of Medicine and Public Health to consider clinical teacher faculty candidates with or without research credentials for this non-tenure-track position. CHS Track duties may consist of dedicated FTE time for scholarly work and teaching.
