Job Description

About the job

The https://www.instituteofmaking.org.uk/materials-library/library – Materials Library is a handling collection of some of the most wondrous materials on earth, gathered from sheds, kitchens, workshops, labs and factories around the world. As Materials Library Creative Lead you will be responsible for a mix of creative display, collections management, and communication and engagement work across both sites. You will also be responsible for the day-to-day administration and care of the collections and will be the first point of contact for eclectic and wonderful enquiries about materials from our members and public audiences.

This role would be perfect for someone from a creative background who has a flair for the visual, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a broad understanding of materials and processes. The ideal candidate would be someone enthusiastic, flexible and organised who thrives when doing a mix of creative hands-on tasks and administrative, organisational work.

You will work closely with our Head of Materials Library Sarah, as well as the rest of our small, dynamic, friendly and supportive Institute of Making team.
