The School of Engineering Science (ENSC) at Simon Fraser University (SFU) invites applications for a 2-year Limited-Term Lecturer position in Electrical and Computer Engineering, starting as early as May 1, 2025.

The School of Engineering Science offers programs that are nationally accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB). Our programs are among the most sought-after engineering programs in Canada. Lecturers are an integral part of the school, and they contribute to its academic mission of teaching and preparing engineering science students for competitive industrial careers and advanced graduate studies.

The successful candidate will report to the Director of the School of Engineering Science and their primary responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following:

• Developing course content (according to the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee (UCC) prescription), and teaching a regular course load (5 courses per year), in areas including:
o Digital systems
o Electronics and circuits
o System-level software
o Signals and systems
o Control theory

• Contributing actively to a vibrant culture in the ENSC program, with service contributions that might include a lead role in an area such as:
o Academic integrity and student conduct
o Student recruitment and community outreach
o Experiential learning and capstone project coordination
o Diversity, equity and inclusion
o Library liaison
o Safety
o Student liaison

An ideal candidate is expected to possess the following qualifications:

• Ph.D., M.A.Sc., or M.Eng. in electrical and computer engineering or a closely related discipline
• Eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia
(EGBC)
• Proven excellence in developing and teaching engineering courses, and instructional laboratory
development, at the undergraduate and (where applicable) graduate levels
• Excellent communication skills and commitment to a team based working culture
• Industrial design experience is an asset

The undergraduate program within Engineering Science is accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB). The successful candidate should either have a Canadian Professional Engineering licence or at a minimum secure such qualification as soon as possible (preferably within 1 year of the appointment). Faculty salaries at SFU are based on the salary scales bargained between the University and the SFU Faculty Association. A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $98,340 – $114,241 (subject to experience).
