Job Summary/Basic FunctionThis position is for a custom English language program that Concordia Language Villages will be delivering in summer 2025 for a group of between 20-40 students, ages 10-13, from China. The program will take place at the site of our Russian Language Village. Program dates are August 13-25; staff will begin work on August 10 or 11 in order to prepare for the program and set up the site. 

Under the direction of the Curriculum Facilitator and Summer English Language Program Director, you will plan, teach and assess language classes in the target language.

You will:

  • Maintain accurate grade records and complete final evaluations.
  • Maintain communication with the Curriculum Facilitator on the progress of participants
  • Live in a cabin with children (“villagers”), as part of a counseling team, to provide supervision.
  • Assist with light cleaning of the Village site (including cabins, bathrooms, activity areas, etc.) with villagers and counseling team to ensure a safe, hygienic space for everyone.
  • Lead games, Cabin Council and other activities to create a cabin community.
  • Supervise and interact with students during meals.
  • Assist with other aspects of Village life, including cultural presentations and activity periods.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the dean and leadership staff.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to model those for younger children
  • Demonstrates maturity & good judgment
  • Enjoy interacting with and managing children
  • Demonstrated flexibility in adapting to changing situations

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent
  • Experience teaching the target language and culture
  • Hands-on experience working with adolescents aged 14-18

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Previous Concordia Language Villages or summer camp experience
  • Teaching licensure
  • Experience as a teacher in the target language
