The consultant will support the Urban Health team under the Planning Finance and Economy section. The work of Urban Health focuses on the interconnection of the different components of the urban environment with the health outcomes of city dwellers.

Duties and Responsibilities
BACKGROUND UN-Habitat, the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable and resilient towns and cities. It is the focal point agency for all urbanization and human settlement matters within the UN system. UN-Habitat envisions well-planned, well-governed and efficient cities and towns, with adequate housing, infrastructure and universal access to employment and basic services such as water, energy, and sanitation. The Planning, Finance and Economy Section (PFES) of UN-Habitat supports countries in developing urban planning methods and systems that address current urbanization challenges. It promotes urban planning approaches to address urban expansion and transformation. Reporting and Communication The Consultant will be under the overall leadership of the Leader, Planning, Finance and Economy Section and report to the Manager of the Young Gamechangers Initiative. Duties and Responsibilities Under the overall supervision of the Programme Management Officer, the consultant will be responsible for the following duties: • Support the Young Gamechangers Initiative Globally and in the pilot cities; • Provide urban health inputs to ongoing and future projects; • Draft project proposals for new programme implementation; • Contribute to resource mobilisation and grant application.; • Seek out new partnerships and collaborations; • Develop urban health normative documents; • Provide critical analysis of existing urban health documents and instruments; • Provide inputs to guides, policy briefs and normative outputs; • Provide urban health inputs into PFES publications and documents; • Mainstream urban health throughout the Planning Finance Economy Section and UN-Habitat; and • Attend meetings, missions and conferences within and outside UN-Habitat on behalf of the Urban Health team and Planning Finance Economy Section.
Qualifications/special skills
Education; • University degree in public health, environmental studies, medicine, sustainable development, urban planning, or related fields relevant to urban development and urban health is required. Working Experience; • A minimum of 2 years of experience in project management and coordination in public health, global health, urban health, sustainable development, clinical practice, health systems management, urban policy, environmental health science, or research. • Experience in research related to the urban environment and/or sustainability and the use of evidence-based knowledge for programmed development is required. • Experience in writing reports, documents and correspondence is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this advertised position fluency in English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
