Healthcare Insurance Coordinator (Full Time) – Edmonton, AB
Primary Purpose
To initiate third party funding for Medigas clients and ensure proper guidelines are met for ongoing funding. Position reports to the Insurance Manager.
Key Accountabilities
- Work with various insurance agencies to manage funding authorization for clients. This may include booking testing appointments as required to comply with funding agency requirements.
- Collaborate with staff from other departments to gather relevant information
- Correspond with physician’s offices for information required for funding purposes
- Review unbilled orders and work with clinical and billing staff to resolve
- Review zero-dollar accounts and work towards moving to non-zero
- Monitoring clients whose funding authorizations are due to expire and taking the necessary steps to secure ongoing funding prior to expiration date
- Work very closely with both the Clinical and billing staff to ensure KPI’s are met
- Notify billing department when to start, suspend, restart or discontinue billing according to authorization status
- Entering authorizations in ERP System
- Accurate documentation of all clinical notes and communications with staff, testing facilities and physician’s offices in EMR system
- Identify and report risks or potential issues
- Recommend improvements to increase process efficiency and effectiveness
- Escalate non-compliance with policies and procedures to Insurance Manager
- Address customer phone and/or email inquiries promptly
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High School or equivalent
Experience
- Medical office experience an asset
- 1+ year(s) experience in Customer Service
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Detail-oriented and results-driven
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to excel in a team environment
- Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- JD Edwards experience an asset
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR) knowledge an asset
