MiCT is calling for proposals for freelance Urdu /Dari /Pashto speaking Community manager in the framework of its program “MiCT Fellowship for Critical Voices 2025”, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. MiCT invites interested and qualified persons to submit proposals by 27.03.2025.
1. Introducing MiCT
Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT) is a non-profit organisation delivering expert media services in complex and challenging contexts with passion, precision and agility. Through our collaborative work with our partners, we foster transparent, inclusive and fair dialogue supporting resilient societies that thrive.
Across three continents and 15 countries, MiCT facilitates the training of journalists and media producers, programme and content development, radio and film production, magazine and book publishing, media research and monitoring, in addition to supporting the financial viability of our partners.
2. The Program
The MiCT Critical Voices Fellowship is aimed at media professionals from crisis and conflict countries who share a common value in their professional journalistic integrity. The program is currently focused on journalists and media makers from Afghanistan, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Sudan and Myanmar – with a global mandate. Fellows receive financial and health support, expert safety advice, online and offline training, legal and psycho-social support, production advice, and access to a global community of like-minded media professionals.
3. Description of the role
To support the Fellows from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran and their neighbouring countries, MiCT is looking for a Community manager to support project implementation for up to 20 days/month.
Deliverables include, but are not limited to:
- Organize the onboarding of all fellows, including needs/interest assessment and an introduction of exiled Fellows to their host environment to the Fellow journalists.
- Identify suitable project partners and experts to accompany the fellowship based on the interest assessment
- Set up and moderate various social media channels for the fellow community.
- Function as the main point of contact for fellows for all programme elements, from personal support to finance.
- Oversee community development and support for in-country Fellows.
- Coordinating and supporting the productions of fellow journalists in exile if they are able to during the duration of the entire Fellowship.
- Close coordination with local partners in-country and in exile.
- Available for regular meetings with Fellows and the MiCT headquarter team in Berlin.
4. Application Requirements
Successful applicants should be able to provide proof of the following:
- Experience working with journalists in crisis and conflict contexts
- Thorough understanding of the global media landscape, particularly in Afghanistan Pakistan, Iran and their neighboring countries, preferred
- Fluency in English and Pashto/Dari/Urdu required
- Experience communicating under stressful conditions
- Familiarity with discourse around exile and crisis journalism, media freedom and critical, non-discriminatory development communication
- Flexibility and teamwork
5. What we offer
We welcome applicants globally to join our small, creative and international team. MiCT can provide safe, creative working environments in Tbilisi/Georgia, Islamabad/Pakistan, Chiang Mai/Thailand, Kyiv/Ukraine or Berlin/Germany where required, with preference for the candidate to be regionally based in Pakistan. Remote candidates are welcome to apply. The contract will run until December 2025 on a freelance basis.
