The Base
We are based at 7 Bryant Park in the heart of NYC. And we have everything we need to work flexibly. We operate a hybrid working model, with a requirement that our Assistant Portfolio Manager be in the office 3 days per week. This is to sustain our culture of innovation, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and building relationships within the business.

Position Overview
The Assistant Portfolio Manager (APM) provides administrative and analytical support to the Emerging Market Debt (EMD) team, ensuring that investment strategies are effectively implemented across portfolios. A strong candidate will develop skills in bond allocation and strategy, assisting in security selection and portfolio construction, working closely with analysts and senior portfolio managers.
Responsibilities
- Portfolio Monitoring & Management
- Assist in all aspects of the portfolio management cycle, including daily tasks and long-term strategic projects.
- Monitor portfolio position weights and risk analytics relative to benchmarks and targets, highlighting deviations and executing necessary rebalancing orders.
- Oversee portfolio cash balances, ensuring alignment with product guidelines and investment strategies.
- Identify, review, and resolve compliance breaches to maintain adherence to client guidelines.
- Track and manage corporate actions for funds under management.
- Coordinate with the trading desk to execute trading programs and monitor trade execution efficiency.
- Data Analysis & Reporting
- Develop and maintain portfolio management tools within Aladdin and Excel.
- Work with the Product Team to generate portfolio-related reports, presentations, and investment commentaries for clients.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage with global portfolio managers to contribute to issuer and industry discussions.
- Work cross-functionally with Compliance, Sales, Marketing, and Investment teams.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, international relations, STEM, or a related field.
- 0-3 years’ experience in finance
- Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office, Bloomberg
- Personable and team-oriented
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient in Aladdin
- CFA holder or candidate
- Coding experience Python, R, VBA
Compensation
Schroders offers a base salary in a range of $85,000 to $110,000 for this position.
The referenced salary range is based on the Company’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
