Rate of Pay: £4000 + expenses
Period: for 20 days (max 8 hours working day) between July and November

About Gwenda’s Garage:

Gwenda’s Garage is a bold, uplifting new musical based on the true story of 3 lesbians who opened a women-run garage in 1985 Sheffield; created and produced by Out of the Archive. Faced with everyday sexism, homophobia, and the impact of Section 28, they fought to create a space for women in manual trades, inspiring the next generation. Featuring original music and a story of activism, resilience, and community, Gwenda’s Garage is a powerful celebration of working-class LGBTQ+ history and the fight for equality-one spark plug at a time.

After an R&D at the Sheffield Playhouse, it will return as a full-scale production in association with Sheffield Theatres to Sheffield Playhouse and Southwark Playhouse.

About Out of the Archive:

Out Of The Archive was founded in 2019 by Nicky Hallett and Val Regan. It is a collaboration between writers, musicians, performers and academics and its aim is to animate archival material about LGBTQ+ lives, bringing hidden histories into contemporary focus
