UN Women supports UN Member States as they set global standards for achieving gender equality, and works with governments and civil society to design laws, policies, programmes and services needed to ensure that the standards are effectively implemented and truly benefit women and girls worldwide.

Context

Over the past years, UN Women Uganda has played a central role in coordinating the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, mobilizing government, civil society, media, and young people to call for an end to violence against women and girls. To strengthen visibility and advocacy in 2025, the campaign will feature fact sheets and advocacy materials that highlight progress, lessons learned, and key achievements from past campaigns and ongoing work under UN Women Uganda’s gender equality and women’s empowerment portfolio. These materials will be used across digital platforms, in partner briefings, and during national dialogues.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect design requirements including branding guidelines, key campaign messages, and target audiences.
• Develop draft layouts for fact sheets and advocacy visuals, and review with the communications team.
• Finalize design templates and ensure all products align with UN Women branding and campaign identity.
• Create engaging, reader-friendly infographics and visual assets that highlight campaign achievements and calls to action. The design/layout should follow our corporate design guidelines which will be shared with the Online Volunteers in advance.

Deliverables
• Five designed fact sheets (PDF and editable formats) highlighting campaign messages.
• A consolidated style guide (colors, fonts, layouts, and infographics) for consistent campaign branding.
• Editable design templates (InDesign/Canva/Illustrator) for future use by the communications team.
• At least three advocacy infographics/visuals optimized for social media platforms.

Required Skills and Experience

• Professional experience in graphic design, preferably for advocacy or development campaigns. A degree in a related field is considered an asset.
• Proficiency in design software (InDesign, Illustrator, Canva, Photoshop, or equivalents).
• Strong ability to translate data and narratives into engaging visuals.
• Good communication skills and experience working with campaign branding.
