Morobe Development Foundation Inc. is a leading Internationally recognised NGO based in Lae Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea. It has the vision to help young people reach their full potential by utilizing their hidden talents in community development initiatives so they can realize their potential and become role model in the community.
MDF was established to address a broader and more diverse range of objectives and work through the use of dance, music, and drama, MDF’s primary aim is to ensure that women participate equally in decision-making in any project undertaken, including projects related to Ending Violence against Women and promoting Human Rights to support the Government and the Sustainable Development Goals.
MDF, in collaboration with Online Volunteers, engaged through the UNV”s Unified Volunteer Platform (UVP), has also undertaken various scientific research studies related to the environment – forest cover loss, land use land cover change, the influence of various parameters on surface waters, and coastal shoreline turtle habitat loss. These projects included the participation of various experts and researchers from diverse fields across various countries across the globe – ranging from marine biology, biodiversity conservation, PNG community management, remote sensing, and land use policy among various others.
MDF is managed by a management committee, which is made up of the Chairman, the Deputy Chairman, Secretary, the Treasurer, the Project Coordinator, Community Development Officer, and a male and female member of the foundation, and ensures that women participate equally in decision making.

Context
Morobe Development Foundation Inc. (MDF) is currently developing a comprehensive proposal for a water pump project in Kesu. This aims to establish a water pump system in Kesu rural communities in Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea. The project will focus on:
– Providing a portable well that will be dug and a water pump installed;
– Offering advanced water system infrastructure;
– Creating a sponsorship program for the water pump system (which involves developing a sustainable funding model where external sponsors can support the ongoing maintenance and operation of the water pump system, ensuring long-term community access to clean water)
This project directly contributes to SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) in the PNG context by:
– Addressing the high rate of lack of proper water systems;
– Promoting sanitation and good health improvement in the growing communities sectors of PNG;
– Supporting the PNG government”s Vision 2050, to fight against water-borne diseases in its communities;
The support from Online Volunteers in proposal development will be crucial in securing funding for this impactful project, potentially transforming the lives of thousands of women and children in Papua New Guinea and contributing to the country”s sustainable development goals.
Key Responsibilities
Specifically, Online Volunteers engaged under this assignment will be assigned the following tasks. The MDF Team will closely collaborate with all volunteers on all tasks, providing full supervision throughout the engagement.
Online Volunteer 1: Proposal Writing Support
– Support MDF Team in drafting main narrative sections of proposals and bids;
– Help edit and refine final proposal drafts under MDF supervision;
Online Volunteer 2: Research and Data Support
– Support MDF Team in conducting research on funding opportunities and grant requirements;
– Assist in gathering and analyzing relevant data to support proposal claims;
Online Volunteer 3: Project Planning Support
– Assist MDF Team in creating project logic models and detailed project budgets;
– Help create financial projections and cost-benefit analyses under MDF guidance;
Online Volunteer 4: Administrative Support
– Support MDF Team in drafting executive summaries and cover letters for proposals;
– Assist in managing proposal submission timelines and preparing supporting documents;
Volunteer 5: Quality Assurance Editing Support
– Assist MDF Team in reviewing and checking documents written by other volunteers;
– Help improve the quality of English language and ensure consistency across all proposal components;
Volunteer 6: Fundraising Strategy Support
– Support MDF Team in researching potential sponsors and funding sources for the water pump system;
– Assist in developing fundraising materials and sponsorship packages under MDF supervision.
Required Skills and Experience
The candidates should have:
– Excellent writing and editing skills in English.
– Strong research and analytical abilities, including familiarity with fundraising skills.
– Experience in grant writing or proposal development (preferred but not required).
– Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
– Background in nonprofit work, international development, or related fields (preferred).
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
