WE ARE
We are a unit in the DGT C3 Language department – Hungarian & Slovenian, the mission of the
HU-2 unit is to provide the European Commission with high-quality translation and other language
services in Hungarian. The unit is based in Luxembourg, there are 22 translators and 4 assistants.
We translate documents originating from various DGs (i.e. AGRI, CLIMA, CNECT, COMM, DEFIS, DGT,
DIGIT, EAC, EMPL, ENER, ENV, GROW, HERA, IDEA (ex EPSC), JRC, MARE, MOVE, OIB, OIL, OP, REGIO,
RTD, SANTE, SCIC and TAXUD) from all EU official languages, mainly from English into Hungarian.
WE PROPOSE
The HU-2 Unit is seeking to hire one Linguist Agent.
The position will consist of challenging linguistic administrative tasks concerning internal and
external translation management, IT tasks related to the treatment of translations (preprocessing
and post processing), quality assurance, documentary research, terminology support, collaborative
site management, as well as the traditional secretarial administrative tasks within the Unit
secretariat.
You would be joining a dynamic unit in Luxembourg while having the opportunity to contribute to
shaping this key position in the Unit over the years to come. We apply an active internal training
policy.
WE LOOK FOR
We are looking for a person with excellent knowledge of the Hungarian language (mother tongue
level), very good IT and communication skills, who is service-minded, pro-active, dynamic, who
works independently but who is also able to function well within a small team, in close
collaboration with the larger group of translators, and with other colleagues within the department.
A very good command of English is indispensable for daily office work and professional contacts
outside the Unit and Department. Good command of French would be an asset.
The ideal profile for the job is education master’s degree, and at least 1 year of relevant
professional experience, preferably in language technology.
