  • Contribute to curriculum development to ensure well-sequenced, evidence-informed English provision across Key Stages 2–4, supporting a seamless transition from primary to secondary.
  • Support departmental monitoring, such as learning walks, pupil voice and book reviews, helping to drive continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to whole-school teacher development, including CPD design and delivery, participation in research cycles and promoting evidence-informed practice.
  • Uphold and promote the school’s strong Christian ethos and contribute to our high-expectations culture.

The precise balance of responsibilities will reflect the strengths and interests of the successful candidate and the priorities of the English department.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a skilled and successful classroom practitioner with high expectations and a strong record of impact on pupil progress.
  • Has experience contributing to improved teaching and learning within a team (e.g., coaching, mentoring or modelling practice).
  • Has secure knowledge of curriculum planning and evidence-informed pedagogy, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues and contribute to a collaborative, ambitious department.
  • Is committed to promoting the school’s Catholic and Church of England ethos and supporting the personal development of all pupils.

In return, we can offer:

  • A supportive and caring Christian school community where staff wellbeing is prioritised.
  • A dedicated English team committed to continual improvement and high-quality teaching.
  • A bespoke CPD programme, including opportunities for coaching, leadership development and engagement with the National English Hub programme. Holy Trinity is part of the St Clare’s Trust which runs the St Wilfrid’s English Hub.
  • A purpose-built, state-of-the-art school building and excellent facilities.
  • A highly supportive Trust and Local Academy Committee.
