FTE £28,887 – £40,990
Unqualified Actual Salary: £24,786 – £31,537
FTE £26,308 – £33,474

The school is opening in 2026 and is based near the Emerson College site near the beautiful Ashdown Forest and the village of Forest Row.
In this role you will be ensuring the pupils of Ashdown Garden School engage in learning and achieve their goals by providing practical, experiential and therapeutic education through careful planning of
the structure, methodology and delivery of the learning experience.
Job Requirements
The key duties of this role will include:
- Plan and deliver high-quality forge and metalwork sessions using traditional techniques.
- Teach pupils to safely use forge equipment and hand tools to create functional items.
- Link forge craft activities to functional skills and the wider curriculum.
- Support the development and safe operation of the forge workshop.
- Adopt a therapeutic and relational approach to teaching and behaviour support.
- Monitor progress, adapt learning to individual needs and reduce barriers to engagement.
- Deliver accredited qualifications in line with student pathways where appropriate.
