Job Summary
The Stage Manager manages performances on the Taverna floor, supervising all aspects of the production and experience, ensuring all standards are upheld throughout the Taverna.
Job Description
Duties include
- First point of call for all cast and production departments throughout the performance.
- Perform the SM track each performance.
- Learn the ASM tracks and perform as required.
- Deputise for the Company Manager in their absence.
- Liaise with the Duty Manager, Security departments and F&B Duty Manager throughout the experience, and where necessary, communicate with the Waiting team.
- Manage all the production departments throughout the experience.
- Responsibility for stopping the show in an emergency or as necessary, adhering to the Health and Safety of the entire team.
- Producing the weekly Stage Management team rota; ensuring all aspects of rehearsal, publicity and performance are adequately covered.
- Line manage the Stage Management team, including the DSM, ASMs and Technical Swing, and complete probations and appraisals as required.
- In conjunction with the Company Manager, support the recruitment, induction and ongoing development of the Stage Management team.
- Manage and rota the Technical Swings accordingly, liaising with Heads of Department to ensure the show is fully always covered.
- Attend all rehearsal, publicity and meetings as required, including the weekly Aerial rehearsal.
Job Requirements
Essential
- 3 years’ experience as Stage Manager on large scale musicals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and able to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
- Willing to work unsociable hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Able to work independently while following creative and operational direction.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to changing production, operational or guest needs.
Desirable Skills
- Experience of working on immersive theatrical productions, working collaboratively with venue, production, F&B, security and front of house teams.
- Experience of working on productions that include aerial performance or performer flying.
- First aid trained.
- “Book” experience.
