The Strategic Non-Kinetic Effects (SNKE) Mission Center at MITRE is a new and emerging organization within MITRE focused on developing cutting-edge capabilities to gain and maintain strategic advantage. We are a cross-functional team of analysts, subject-matter-experts, engineers, and innovators working to deliver meaningful solutions to the nation’s most pressing security challenges. Roles & Responsibilities:
SNKE seeks a Mission Integration Strategist to be the primary technical interface between MITRE and the defense community for the design, development, and operational deployment of advanced non-kinetic capabilities. This role will architect end‑to‑end data flows, define system‑of‑systems architectures, and lead the operational integration of those systems within the defense enterprise. The incumbent will drive the technical vision and ensure alignment with mission requirements while translating those needs into secure, scalable data architectures that span sensors, analytics, and command‑and‑control layers, guaranteeing seamless interoperability across the entire enterprise.
Leveraging MITRE’s deep expertise in systems‑of‑systems engineering, the role will bring together disparate government and commercial capabilities into a unified, federated architecture that addresses non-kinetic mission needs. The incumbent will collaborate closely with stakeholders across the defense enterprise, the intelligence community, and industry partners to prototype, validate, and iterate solutions that deliver actionable insights at speed and scale. By fostering a culture of continuous improvement and cross‑agency collaboration, the role will shape MITRE’s contributions to national defense.
Key to success will be the ability to operate at the nexus of mission understanding, data, and advanced AI and analytic capabilities, while coordinating analytic integration across all non-kinetic efforts. The incumbent will work in close collaboration with government partners, ensuring that all MITRE non-kinetic initiatives align toward a common end state and that the collective investment in technology, data, and analytics delivers measurable strategic impact across the defense enterprise.
Selected candidates will demonstrate the following:
- Strategic Leadership. Create strong relationships across leadership and subject matter experts in policy, intel, and the defense community. Proactively and closely partner with internal MITRE programs team to deliver novel concepts. Actively collaborate with other projects supporting related sponsors to ensure maximum value and impact across MITRE’s sponsors
- Domain/Technical Competence. Demonstrate strong familiarity in two or more of the following areas: (1) National Security Policy, (2) Strategic Economics, (3) Artificial Intelligence, (4) Cyber Operations.
- Interpersonal Skills. Deliver strong leadership and partner closely with both senior military leaders to identify tactical, operational, and strategic challenges, potential solutions, and communicate task goals and impacts clearly and effectively.
- Collaboration. Cultivate an environment that develops robust network of MITRE and other professional connections to engage and collaborate with engineers and planners, subject matter experts, specialists, and defense acquisition professionals. Leverage MITRE technical expertise from the Labs, capabilities from the MITRE Platforms, and other sponsor efforts to support the FFRDC value proposition.
- Senior Sponsor Experience. Comfortably and respectfully engage with US senior military leaders and engineers as well as commercial executives and managers.
- Flexibility and Suitability. Be able to modify and alter course as the environment and sponsor priorities shift. Understand the power of reach-back and be an effective conduit to bring the talent forward to execute at the right time.
Other responsibilities include:
- Plan and carry out a regular tempo of sponsor engagements in support of Center and Division strategy and goals.
- Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the SNKE sponsors including overall strategy, organization, leadership as well as component strategies, investments, and issues; provide informational updates to the Division and Center leadership teams of the work program, as required.
- Partner with project, task, and technical leads from across MITRE (MITRE National Security Sector, MITRE Labs and MITRE Public Sector, where appropriate – to refine the technical direction for MITRE’s SNKE work programs and ensure that all relevant MITRE resources are brought to bear for SNKE sponsors.
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience
- Demonstrated, effective, and influential oral communications skills
- Strong written communications skills
- Demonstrated experience generating and assessing courses of action (COAs) using advanced analytics and AI-enabled tools, including the ability to translate mission objectives into data-informed COA options and recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement data, analytics, and AI governance frameworks, including policies, guidance, and organizational constructs that accelerate responsible AI adoption.
- Proven track record of successful experience leading technology development and integration, strategy and business development, technical and engineering services, program and portfolio management, and government program leadership.
- Demonstrated success architecting and executing department-level data sharing strategies and policies, including leading cross-organizational working groups to remove systemic data access and interoperability barriers.
- Experience developing and executing analytic plans for strategic analysis and modeling of impacts on defense missions, including coordination with analytic and assessment communities.
- Proven and demonstrable experience supporting organizations that sponsor MITRE work.
- Proven and demonstrable experience briefing high level stakeholders with an ability to provide executive communications.
- Must have active TS/SCI.
- Per the U.S. Government’s eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.
- This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate Degree in International Relations, Computer Science, or related studies.
- Experience operating in multiple types of environments.
- Deep subject matter expertise and a comprehensive understanding of defense organizations and their missions.
- A strong working knowledge of MITRE culture and techniques for work shaping.
- Previous project leadership experience on large, complex projects.
