Job Summary
Job Description
Preproduction:
Ensure the safe and efficient running of rehearsals, including marking out studios, operating technical equipment in rehearsal, and managing props and set.
Ensure clear communication of information between rehearsals and all relevant parties including props, set, lighting and wardrobe.
Keep accurate and up to date records of all rehearsal and performance paperwork.
Understand and work within relevant Health and Safety legislation and procedures.
Manage all stage management staff, ensuring the effective output and welfare of those employees.
Attend production planning meetings and any other meetings as required.
Show running:
Run the stage manager track for all scheduled performances.
Run and manage the stage during show calls and performance.
Be responsible for managing the health and safety of the show team during performance.
Oversee the reset and to assist in the management of pre-show checks, warm ups etc.
Effectively communicate with all other technical departments to ensure the smooth running of the show.
Collate technical information and build accurate and detailed show reports to distribute to wider technical and creative teams.
Manage the day to day running of the stage management department.
Build rotas for the stage management team and rest of technical teams, and to ensure all tracks are adequately covered.
Manage the learning and support of new members of the SM team and deps.
Ensure all SM team have the relevant specialist training in conjunction with the Company Manager.
Communicate with Production Manager regarding any props or set fixes if necessary.
Oversee the management of all props and running props.
Lead on sourcing replacements or replenishments of props, either through the props supervisor or independently.
Manage cast change and understudy rehearsals and alongside the Company Manager, ensure that appropriate technical support is provided for these rehearsals.
Job Requirements
Contract Length: June 2026 – July 2027
All candidates must be willing to tour and be available for the full contract.
