Job Description
As a member of the Arts Team, you will be key in ensuring young people have access to an exciting and creative arts programme that will be challenging, stimulating, fun, engaging and developmental. You will be involved in teaching the fundamentals of a single, or range of arts activities, enabling young people to explore their creativity and grow their skills. For this role specifically we are looking for someone to lead on the setting up and championing of our new Maker Zone space. Ideally, you will have experience delivering workshops on one or more of the following:
– 3D printing, laser cutting, wood-working, coding, CAD/CAM, sewing, customising clothes, delivering STEM workshops, crafting
– Illustration & Graphic Design: Typography, Branding, Digital illustration, Content creation
– Animation, Stop-motion, Podcasting, GenAI, Use of Adobe and other digital platforms
Please note that to be successful, you do not need to be proficient in every area or type of dance, we are interested in seeing the skills and experience you can bring to WEST!
Youth workers plan and deliver high quality youth work that supports young people in their personal, social and educational development. The role will require you to work with Juniors (8 – 12 yrs) and/or Seniors (13 – 19 yrs) and/or Beyond (members with additional needs up to 25 yrs).
Renumeration: LLW £14.80 p/h
Paid Monthly
Contracted Hours: From 4.5hrs up to 13.5hrs per week based on your availability
Job Requirements
Experience of working with groups of young people aged 8 to 19, or up to aged 25 with a disability.
Experience of delivering arts sessions to young people.
Experience of team working and working alongside volunteers.
Experience in one or more arts medium.
Experience of delivering events / displays and performances
Experience of working with young people from diverse backgrounds and with challenging needs
Level 2 Arts qualification or equivalent
Ability to deliver high quality arts programmes with young people who face social exclusion, disadvantage and disaffection and manage such a group.
Able to work as part of a team and under own initiative.
Able to plan and evaluate the programme of activities, including production of session plans and evaluations.
Able to communicate effectively with young people, parents, team members and members of the public.
Ability to engage and build positive relationships with young people
